'Game Of Thrones' creators to make next 'Star Wars' movie

BB8 will be one of the Star Wars characters you'll get to meet at Galaxy's Edge

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe.

Iger spoke of the decision to wait that long for more Star Wars at the summit.

Still, if David Benioff and Dan Weiss are able to bring the magic touch that made Thrones such a mega-hit to Star Wars, their movie could be very successful.

It was revealed past year that the pair would write and produce a new series of Star Wars films, separate from both the episodic Skywalker saga and the previously announced trilogy that is in development from Star Wars: The Last Jedi's Rian Johnson.

It's official. Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will soon be going from swords to lightsabers when they will helm the next Star Wars movie after 2019's The Rise of Skywalker. It's amusing that Iger is basically like, "we have so much money, sure, we'll probably make another Star War". "So we're not doing nothing".

After releasing five films since purchasing Lucasfilm in 2012 - The Force Awakens, Rogue One, The Last Jedi, Solo, and now The Rise of Skywalker - he said he believed "it would be smart for us to take a bit of a hiatus while we figure out what's next".

"We're hard at work already", Disney CEO Bob Iger said during an investor's call, according to a report from Polygon on Tuesday, "but we felt three years was the proper amount of time to not only take a breather and reset, but to gear up for the next film's release [which he confirmed will be from Benioff and Weiss]".

Both, however, are expected to be separate from the Skywalker saga which will wrap up this December with J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

The Mandalorian will be available to stream when Disney+ goes live in mid-November; the Rogue One series won't arrive until 2021, around one year before the next batch of Star Wars movies will kick off.
