Cloud lifting with lots of sunshine sending Easter temperatures soaring

First Alert Forecast A few showers warmer weather this afternoon

The South West is set for flawless Bank Holiday weather with bright sunshine and temperatures of around 21 degrees - and the Met Office say it could be even warmer than that. We should stay dry through Saturday and Easter Sunday, too, but with cooler temperatures.

High temperatures will climb back to the 60s on Thursday with another 10-percent chance of a few isolated showers.

In fact, it appears that the island of Ireland will be warmer than that of top Summer holiday destinations such as Barcelona, Lanzarote, Ibiza and Athens. However as high pressure builds this week and southeasterly winds bring warmer air from mainland Europe, temperatures will quickly rise and there'll be plenty of dry and sunny weather expected across the United Kingdom, . Temperatures will most likely cool to the 40s on Sunday with a chance for showers in the afternoon and evening.

A drier end to the week is expected with high pressure over Scandinavia ridging westwards across Britain allowing warmer air to drift upwards from France.

From Wednesday, April 17, the mercury will begin to rise growing warmer each day in time for the weekend.

Temperatures will take a slight dip on Easter Sunday.

Lanzarote: Friday - 19 degrees, Saturday - 20 degrees, Sunday - 20 degrees.

For those of you dreaming of heading to the beach this long weekend, we highly suggest you do so while you can!

It may be that by Easter Sunday and Monday, the far northwest starts to see more cloud and even some light rain moving in, but elsewhere the whole long weekend looks fine and warm.
