The beyhive was abuzz at midnight Pacific time when Beyoncé dropped her new documentary, Homecoming: A Film by Beyonce on Netflix AND, in true Queen Bey style, released a surprise live album.

The 37-year-old entertainer included a cover of Frankie Beverly and Maze's 1981 song "Before I Let Go" in the end credits.

"The singing superstar announced the news by tweeting a picture of the album cover and writing simply: "#HOMECOMING out now".

Homecoming features live versions of signature Beyoncé hits like Drunk in Love, Run The World and Formation plus Destiny's Child classics Lose My Breath and Say My Name with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, and collaborations with her husband Jay Z and reggaeton star J Balvin. And now, the 2 hour documentary is out - as is a previously unannounced live album, featuring 40 (!) tracks, including three with Destiny's Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

The highly-anticipated film presents behind-the-scenes footage and interviews from before, during and after the show. "It was an over-the-top Busby Berkeley Hollywood musical brought to the modern day by way of the great HBCU marching units of the South, and it was fairly glorious". Who would've guessed the missing ingredients needed to ratchet her catalog a step up into greatness were exceptionally arranged tubas and timbales?

The album is available on major streaming services.
