Game Of Thrones Season 8 Episode Runtimes Confirmed By HBO

These presence of these hefty episodes won't be a surprise to people who are all caught up on the show thus far, as there are a ton of loose ends to tie up before the end of the series.

However, HBO have now officially confirmed the durations for all six episodes and we're delighted to say that the average duration for the episodes in Season 8 will be 72 minutes.

Earlier in the week, fans of the show were able to sleuth their way around the cable network's digital schedule to get an idea for what "movie-length" actually means for each installment of the abbreviated season, and, as it turns out, they were pretty accurate. Of course, the most important thing here is that the episodes are the right length - enough for character moments, those epic battles we're all waiting for, and without bulk for the sake of bulk.

The final episode, airing Sunday, May 19, will also be an hour and 20 minutes long.

Episode 3 - April 28, 1 hr. Episode 4 airs May 5 and will run 1 hour, 18 minutes, with Episode 5 following May 12 at 1 hour, 20 minutes. The shortest episode of the season will be the premiere at 54 minutes, with the second episode following close behind at just two minutes under an hour at 58 minutes.

Though Game of Thrones will be all wrapped up in just a couple of months' time, HBO isn't done with the franchise just yet.

We still don't have any official episode titles for these final installments, so this information doesn't tell us much about the watch ahead.
