Facebook Messenger DOWN: WhatsApp rival NOT WORKING as users report issues

Facebook Instagram Down For Many Users Across The World

Facebook posted to Twitter reassuring users that the site would be back online.

Some users reflected on how the outage had exposed their reliance on the social media networks.

Many report being unable to post, share, or like.

"We're aware that some people are now having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps", company spokesman Tom Parnell said by email.

Some folks get a warning that says Facebook is doing "required maintenance" while others are getting a full on error message with the note, "We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can".

But for now, this could be a good opportunity to reflect on maybe taking a break from social media? We can confirm that Facebook's Workplace and Work Chat apps are also affected by this outage.

The outage, looking at Downdetector.com - is worldwide but hitting the USA and Europe fairly hard.

Some Twitter users who work in "Facebook-centric" jobs, expressed their panic and distress at being unable to use the platform.

Facebook has tweeted in this regard and said they are trying to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Other users were reporting that they couldn't log in to the app at all to even try posting.

WhatsApp also is in the Facebook family of products, but it seems to be working.

The website DownDetector.com said Facebook began having issues at about noon Eastern time.

It's been zero days since our last internet incident.
