A good amount of TRD branding is also present, like the stitching on the front seat headrests. It debuted at the Chicago Auto Show.

As per the Rav4 Adventure grade it's based on, the new model gets bold wheel arch mouldings and a more aggressive bumper and grille design, with some extra TRD design flavour thrown in. The TRD Sport trim gets 17-inch wheels and available LED headlights.

The Off-Road derivative of the 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD grabs the Multi-Terrain Monitor as well as all the above-mentioned features. "Introduced in 2014, the TRD Pro lineup emerged from Toyota's rich off-road racing heritage".

Toyota has whipped the covers off a new RAV4 TRD Off-Road model at the Chicago Auto Show in the United States, giving its fresh-faced, fifth-generation SUV an updated suspension set-up, new wheels and bespoke tyres "engineered specifically for trail driving". That feature remains standard in 4Runner and Tacoma TRD Pros.

The Tundra changes are part of a larger mid-cycle refresh strategy Toyota seems to be executing on all its SUVs and pickups, with the both 2020 Sequoia and 4Runner benefiting from new packages and upgrades, and the 2020 Tacoma receiving a more substantial face-lift. Intermittent wipers are now standard, along with a 7.0-inch touchscreen.

However, the spotlight is on the new Sequoia, which was already off-road ready to some extent with its robust body-on-frame construction, four-wheel independent suspension, generous ground clearance and 381-horsepower V8 engine.

Like all the other TRD Pro models, the new Sequoia TRD Pro gets legendary Fox Shocks.

All of that specialized road handling is tied to plenty of power. The mill is linked to an eight-speed Direct Shift eight-speed automatic transmission and Dynamic Torque Vectoring All-Wheel Drive (TV-AWD) with Rear Driveline Disconnect.

The Sequoia TRD Pro will go on sale later this year, and its price should come in somewhere around the mid-$60,000 range, sitting close to the top of the lineup, which is now represented by the $68,930 Sequoia Platinum.

Much like its namesake, the Toyota Sequoia endures year after year.
