Red Bull RB15 emerges in one-off livery

F1 in 2019: Max Verstappen debuts deceptive Red Bull RB15

Lewis Hamilton's rival Max Verstappen has joined him on track at Silverstone as Red Bull unveiled the machine they hope will topple Mercedes' dominance.

However, Red Bull have previous in teasing fans with maverick designs that were only used in pre-season testing, only to revert to a more conventional look in time for the opening race of the season.

Red Bull parted company with engine partners Renault at the end of 2018, switching instead to Honda, which also provides power units for sister team Toro Rosso.

Pierre Gasly will partner Verstappen this season after stepping up from Toro Rosso - where he worked with Honda previous year - and the Frenchman's experience convinces him the Red Bull-Honda pairing has potential.

The team published images of the RB15 online with what it said was a temporary livery for filming before testing starts in Spain on Monday.

"I'm very excited to just get started with the engine", Verstappen said. We've obviously been able to strike at venues that have suited the characteristics of our vehicle, winning four races last year - should have been five - and three races the year before.

"We are expecting a lot from Honda and are positive, but it will not be flawless from race one".

"At the moment I am of course very optimistic, but also realistic".

"I want to get the best out of myself, but you have to see what the auto and engine are going to do". "The first two or three weeks feel like they are good to have and then after a break you want to get going".

"There are a lot of things you need to understand about them, and I had the chance to be there and be in the country to learn this, so for sure, I think on this side, this will help the relationship I will have with the engineers". While they will need to give Honda some time before they can realise their true potential, the data has already been very promising.
