OnePlus to show off 5G phone prototype at MWC 2019

Currently, it's impossible to state the specifications of this upcoming handset, but considering OnePlus close bonds with Qualcomm, it seems reasonable to assume that the Snapdragon 855 will be included in the package alongside the Snapdragon X50 Modem in order to grant 5G network capabilities. That deal was confirmed late in 2018 at the Snapdragon Tech Summit, when Qualcomm laid out its roadmap for delivering 5G connectivity to the smartphone market. The company has recently announced an appearance at MWC 2019, that happens later on this month.

Expect to see the OnePlus 5G phone used for gaming experiences which will show just what the low-latency of high-speed 5G could make possible on the go in the very near future. The company's CEO has already said it wants to offer 5G on a handset that'll cost less than £1,000 - something the big boys likely won't do.

OnePlus, at Qualcomm's booth (Hall 3 Stand 3E10), invites all to connect and communicate with our community over a 5G network.

The showdown of several smartphone OEM's will happen at this year's MWC 2019 trade show, with OnePlus being one of the entrants.

The words noted in the media invite hints that the OnePlus 5G phone may be targeted to the gamers out there or mostly the power users. The company is well known for the relatively short life cycles of its products, with improved versions launching roughly twice a year.
