Maurizio Sarri Reportedly Has One Month To Save Job

Frank Lampard has played down speculation linking him with a return to Chelsea, insisting he is only focused on Derby County despite being viewed as a candidate to replace Maurizio Sarri.

Chelsea's main priority for the season is to qualify for next term's Champions League competition, but an embarrassing 6-0 defeat away to Manchester City at the weekend has left the club in sixth place in the Premier League.

Questions have been asked of Sarri in the wake of that heavy loss, but the ex-Napoli boss now appears certain to still be in charge as Chelsea's European campaign resumes at the Swedbank Stadion.

"Bookmakers are not always right for starters, so I wouldn't get excited about that".

"It's certainly a club I respect and a manager that I respect so it wouldn't make me smile or anything different because my job is here", the former England worldwide told British media.

"It doesn't happen to Chelsea much, so when it does, it's a shock".

"My job is here and I'm working very hard".

Chelsea have a rather tough run of fixtures coming up, which will do Sarri no favours in his efforts to prolong his time as our manager. The Italian watched the bulk of the match while the players beaten by City...

Derby travel to Ipswich Town for their next Championship fixture on Wednesday night, with the Rams now seventh in the table and eight points adrift of the automatic promotion spots.
