Marc Gasol was extremely confused by Kyle Lowry's pregame ritual

Marc Gasol meets up with Nick Nurse following his trade from the Memphis Grizzlies. More

VanVleet has a partially torn ligament in the thumb and will wear a splint for approximately three weeks before it is reevaluated.

Following over a decade with the Memphis Grizzlies, the 34-year-old was shipped to the Toronto Raptors just before Thursday's National Basketball Association trade deadline.

A few days before the trade deadline, Jake Fischer of Sports Illustrated reported that the Raptors had offered the Grizzlies Kyle Lowry and Jonas Valanciunas in exchange for Gasol and Mike Conley. He was excited about his home debut.

Head coach Nick Nurse seems happy to know that the Raptors will have another player available to suit up soon.

The US-based sports network's website said Lin, a 30-year-old point guard best known for his "Lin-sanity" run of success with NY in 2012, could wind up with the Canadian club by mid-week. "That's what you want from an organization that you're playing for".

Gasol appreciates Toronto's Spanish connection. He was just 16 when he arrived in Memphis. Gasol moved as a teenager to Germantown, Tennessee, a suburb of Memphis, shortly after his brother Pau was drafted by Memphis Grizzlies.

Gasol figured he might be in for a hero's welcome in Toronto - he's already had a small taste of the Raptors' fan support when he debuted on the road at Madison Square Garden on Saturday. He attended tiny Memphis private high school Lausanne Collegiate School.

Marc worked his way into a franchise player, earning three all-star nominations and winning the NBA's defensive player of the year award in 2013.

This time around, he will be part of a team that's expected to make the NBA Finals.

So, while being traded might have been a tough adjustment earlier in his career, Gasol sounds like he was ready to make this move.
