Bob Stoops Returns To Coaching With XFL

Bob Stoops Has Confirmed His Next Head Coaching Job

The league will begin play in February of 2020, with eight teams, including one in Dallas that will play at Globe Life Park in Arlington. Ever since that news came out, the XFL has been pretty quiet.

Legendary former Sooners Head Coach Bob Stoops has been named the General Manager and Head Coach for the Dallas franchise in WWE Promotor Vince McMahon's revamped XFL Football League.

Stoops was the Head Coach for the University of Oklahoma's football team from 1999 until his retirement in 2017.

"It's a different time of year".

The relaunch season for the XFL kicks off in 2020 on Saturday, February 8 and Sunday, February 9, the weekend following the NFL's Super Bowl. Now the XFL CEO, Luck had developed a relationship with Stoops in the Big 12 during Luck's time as West Virginia athletic director, and later when Luck worked with the NCAA. "It'll be challenging for sure".

"At first I thought it probably wouldn't be for me", Stoops said. "And if it's not fun I won't do it. But this is 'real football.' If it was something goofy or have those old goofy names, I wouldn't be associated with it". "To hiring coaches, and then you gotta accumulate your players, get your organization set up, it reminds me of when I first arrived at Oklahoma".
