Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, and more cult classics are coming to consoles

Baldurs Gate PS4

The games have all previously been released on PC and mobile platforms as enhanced edition but this marks the first time they will appear on consoles.

The majority of these six games were originally developed by BioWare and / or Black Isle Studios from 1998 on, the lone exception being Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear which came directly from Beamdog in 2016.

If you would like the chance to check these games out in person, the Skybound Games booth at PAX East in Boston - taking place from 28th to 31st March, will be displaying a number of them to coincide with its first anniversary.

With enhanced visuals, added content and reworked user interfaces, it is these versions of those games that Beamdog, through the publishing arm of Skybound Games, will be releasing on PS4 sometime later this year. Are you a fan of the D&D series? Skybound Games is also the company that swooped in after the collapse of Telltale Games to salvage The Walking Dead The Final Season.

'These games are iconic, including Baldur's Gate, which has really set the standard for Dungeons & Dragons computer roleplaying games, ' commented Ian Howe, CEO of Skybound Game. These Enhanced Editions will be sold through physical and online retailers. This will mark the first time that the likes of Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights have been ported to console platforms. All were published underneath Interplay Entertainment and are collectively known as the best RPGs of all time. They are all available on PC now and will soon be coming to console, presumably with very different control schemes for the controllers.
