Antonio Brown demands Steelers trade privately and publicly

Colts free agency target WR John Brown

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Brown has in fact requested a trade from the Steelers. ESPN reported shortly afterwards that he has officially asked the team for a trade.

"Thank you Steeler Nation for a big 9 years.time to move on and forward.#NewDemands", he wrote.

Brown is entering the third of year of a five-year $72.7 million contract with the Steelers.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN on January 25 he has spoken to the Steelers to express Brown's "position" but wouldn't divulge details. Of course, one would imagine there will be a number of suitors for the talented wide receiver, but every team should make sure they have a structure in place to foster a good relationship with Brown or else the new marriage could turn toxic quickly.

Brown and the Steelers have had a growing rift which came to a head at the end of the 2018 season when he clashed with teammates, was benched the final game of the season and battled some off-the-field issues as well.

Whether Brown knows he is being traded, or whether he is simply trying to push the Steelers towards moving him, remains to be seen. Brown is also second in receptions (837) and touchdowns (74) to Ward (1,000 and 85, respectively).

A judge found Brown guilty of reckless driving at a hearing Tuesday morning. The woman did not press charges and police have taken no further action.
