Watch Times Square Ball Drop Online, on TV

Times Square

It's nearly New Year's Eve and the best way to celebrate it, is by watching the Times Square ball drop live.

Ciara will also serve as the host for the night for the show's West Coast component, while Seacrest will host the event in New York City. For 2019, the ball is made up of over 2,500 Waterford crystal triangles, cut to resemble butterflies, small rosette cuts, starbursts, diamond cuts and intricate wedge cuts. The festivities will start at 8 p.m. EST, with Cooper and Cohen counting down the Ball Drop in Times Square.

Crowd science professor G. Keith Still says the real Times Square ball drop crowd likely has fewer than 100,000 people. Globally more than one billion people are estimated to watch the ceremony.

Journalists representing the industry at the event include New York Times deputy managing editor Rebecca Blumenstein, CNN New Day anchor Alisyn Camerota, NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt, and Washington Post global opinions editor Karen Attiah, who edited work by the paper's late columnist Jamal Khashoggi. You can also watch it on Hulu Live TV and YouTube. Robin Thicke, Sting, Jason Aldean, and Florence + the Machine will all be performing as well.

He says it "helps cement the image of New York City as the center of the universe". 8-10 p.m. EST and PST (tape delayed).

Revelers celebrate after the ball drop during New Year's Eve celebrations in Times Square on January 1, 2016 in NY.

At 12:30 a.m. EST, CNN hosts Brooke Baldwin and Don Lemon will count down to midnight with the Central Time Zone from New Orleans.
