The Accidental Prime Minister: Muzaffarpur court orders FIR against Anupam Kher

The Accidental Prime Minister quick movie review: Akshaye Khanna keeps you hooked in the first half with a sparkling performance

The role of Baru is being played by Akshaye Khanna. The high court on January 7 had disposed of the writ petition against the trailer but left it open for petitioner to file a public interest litigation (PIL). It is about how Dr Manmohan Singh suddenly became the Prime Minister of the country and what is the exact truth about the common notion that he was a puppet in the hands of Congress Cheif Sonia Gandhi.

The appeal against the January 7 order was filed by petitioner Pooja Mahajan in the top court on Wednesday, hours after a division bench of the high court had dismissed the PIL which had sought a ban on both - the film and its trailer - alleging it defamed the constitutional post of Prime Minister.

"They have released some film just before the election". The actor was talking to the entertainment portal, Spotboye, and explained how The Accidental Prime Minister is different from most Indians films that are popular and are sent to coveted film awards.

Actor Anupam Kher plays the role of Manmohan Singh while Akshaye Khanna is seen in the role of Singh's media advisor Sanjaya Baru in the movie, which is based on a book by the same name authored by Baru and published in 2014.

The petition had listed the film's producer and director and claimed that the movie portrayed the former prime minister and several public figures "in a bad light". Praising his acting skills, Anupam's mother also said she could not believe it's her son and exclaimed, "What do you eat, I don't understand!"

It was produced by the Bohra Bros under Rudra Production (UK), in association with Jayantilal Gada under the banner of Pen India Limited.
