LG Signature OLED TV R literally rolls up inside its own base

LG's new TV rolls away into a base when you're not using

CNET reports that Samsung's line of 8K TVs offers upscaling, but for a TV that size you'd probably want native 8K. In Full View, the screen delivers a large-screen viewing experience. In an effort to make large TVs less conspicuous, LG said that manufacturers are trying to create slimmer and unobtrusive screens.

This year, companies including LG, Samsung, and Sony showed-off their latest prototypes at the annual consumer electronics show. The company opened a new era of innovation in the TV market, creating pioneering technologies like OLED TV and implementing an intuitive operating system to allow customers to experience the full benefits of smart TV technology. The new TV is equipped with LG's second generation of Alpha 9 intelligent processor and deep learning algorithm for a stunning AI picture and sound quality. And in case you'd like a subtle and discrete screen to display things like the time, weather, news stories and album artwork, the 65R9 has a "line view" mode which displays only a small sliver of a screen above its base.

OLED TV with 4K resolution supports Apple AirPlay 2, integration with HomeKit and voice control with a virtual assistant Alexa. After it showed off its rollable, futuristic OLED TV, LG has another feast for the eyes with its "LG OLED Falls" display, which features 260 LG OLED digital signage screens, in curved and flat configurations. Even in Zero View, users can enjoy music and other audio content which resonate from the 4.2-channel, 100W front-firing Dolby Atmos audio system.

This is all wrapped in a brushed aluminum casing with a wool speaker cover.

The magic of the unfurling (the term we've given to the TV unrolling itself from the stand) remains a bit of a mystery, a short instructional video LG put together shows the TV being rolled up on a spindle inside the base.

LG did not disclose pricing for the roll-up television.

Apple AirPlay and HomeKit support are also being added.
