Duchess of Sussex to become National Theatre's royal patron

Meghan and Harry reportedly began renting the Cotswold property before their wedding last year More

Information about Her Royal Highness taking on the National Theatre role was accidentally leaked yesterday on the organisation's website.

Smart Works, which helps women regain the skills, confidence and tools to succeed in job interviews, is one of the four organizations which Markle has become Royal Patron.

Queen Elizabeth II has passed on patronages for The National Theatre and The Association of Commonwealth Universities, roles the Queen has held for 45 and 33 years respectively, to Duchess Meghan.

Last night Kensington Palace announced the Duchess of Sussex's first patronages as a member of the royal family - but not without a bit of a blunder.

Kensington Palace revealed that Meghan has secretly visited Smart Works several times over the past year, as well as the other three organisations, and has got to know the people involved well during that time.

Meghan has previously spoken in support of championing the arts, and has expressed she wishes to use her position to make a difference to the arts sector.

At Smart Works, Meghan helped Patsy Wardally pick out some clothes.

And the Duchess' passion for women's empowerment will come in handy with her work for Smart Works, an organization that provides support for long-term unemployed women who want to return to work.

Meghan, who is a big animal lover, will also be patron of animal charity The Mayhew.

The Duchess of Sussex has been made patron of the National Theatre as well as three other organisations.

The two sisters-in-law share something else in common: both chose patronages that blend their personal interests with charity work.

The Duchess met with Norris a year ago on a private visit to the theatre, and is expected to return there for a public visit in the coming weeks.

And it turns out, Meghan had a clever trick up her sleeve to check she was looking her best throughout the day - since her Victoria Beckham handbag has a sizeable mirror concealed inside it!

What's more, rumors of infighting between Meghan Markle and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton have hit a fever pitch in recent weeks.

"There's no question about the fact that theatre has a challenge".

"Meghan has so much on her plate, between being pregnant and dealing with the public backlash, and she's finding the whole situation incredibly stressful", another insider added to the report.
