After returning to the Camp Nou, the 110 times-capped former Spanish global won one La Liga title, one Copa del Rey, and one Fifa Club World Cup.

Monaco have completed the signing of Cesc Fabregas from Chelsea, as announced by the Ligue 1 club.

The 31-year-old joins the Principality club, who are 19th in Ligue 1, in time to make his debut this weekend against Marseille.

He will also now be playing under his former team-mate and fellow former Arsenal fan-favourite Thierry Henry.

Fabregas described the move as "a new project", calling it a "great honour".

Fabregas leaves Stamford Bridge after a four-and-a-half-year spell that saw him play a key role in two Premier League title triumphs and win the FA Cup and the League Cup.

Cesc Fabregas has ended his four and a half years stint with Chelsea.

'Michy? I know him, we rubbed shoulders with Belgium, he is a player who can be interesting, ' Henry said.

"Fabregas departs having helped the club achieve great success, as well as providing our supporters with some wonderful memories".

Cup matches have offered Fabregas the main chance to impress under Maurizio Sarri, with Jorginho's arrival in the summer forcing Fabregas down the pecking order in terms of midfield places.

"I am looking forward to starting, we have a big game against Marseille on Sunday".

There will be little time for the former Barcelona midfielder to enjoy the Principality, as Monaco now sit second from last in Ligue 1.

"We are convinced that his experience at the highest level will bring a lot to our players on and off the field".
