Cameron church celebrates safe return of Jayme Closs

Accused Jayme Closs kidnapper shaved his head so he would not leave hair behind at her home authorities say

Investigators are still looking for any ties between 13-year-old Jayme Closs and the man accused with kidnapping her, 21-year-old Jake Patterson. But there was still no sign of her, until Nutter, who was walking her dog, came across the teenager last Thursday.

Records show that defendant Jake Thomas Patterson's father transferred the title of the cabin near Gordon to Superior Choice Credit Union on October 23, eight days after the October 15 attack at the Closs family's home near Barron, which is about 60 miles (100 kilometers) south of Gordon.

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said Patterson had specific intentions to kidnap Jayme, but it remains unclear how he became aware of the girl.

Jennifer Halvorson, who is close with Smith, told PEOPLE that Closs is incredibly close with her aunt and glad to be reunited with her. I just reassured her as we walked toward (my neighbor's) house.

"She was very calm", Peter said.

Closs was wearing a zip-up hoodie, leggings and ill-fitting men's sneakers, the Kasinskas said.

"This family has always had this awesome strength, they've always been there for each other long before this happened", she said.

"I was the first one to give her a hug", he said.

Detectives will keep talking to Jayme, but at her own pace, to get more details to help in their investigation.

The same night authorities discovered Jayme missing three months ago, police found her parents James and Denise Closs shot dead in their home.

Smart said she hopes Jayme's case serves "as a reminder that there are still children out there that we need to continue to find".

Smart, who is married and now 31, said that although the details of Jayme's ordeal have not been released, the fact that the girl "rescued herself" speaks volumes of her strength. "I tingle because I have been praying for her since it happened, I don't know the family personally but it's just wonderful", said member, Larry Leff. He did well in class, he was a good student. "I work on adoptions and with foster kids".

Wearing an oversized shirt and shoes that were too big for her, she described a girl who seemed like she'd grabbed at whatever she could to make her escape, trying to survive as she ran through the icy wilderness.

The two women hovered around Jayme as they waited for the police to arrive. "An officer sent my husband to the back door and told him to stand there with the gun in case he comes that way". He wasn't very far away when police found him, Kasinskas said. Glynn said Patterson displayed the kind of emotions and feelings you would expect of someone in this situation. "We realized he was in the neighborhood coming back for her".
