Bowsette is dead in the water as Nintendo confirms she isn't canon

Nintendo rules out the possibility of an official Bowsette, but she's real all the same

But even without Nintendo's blessing, it's safe to say that fans have made Bowsette a permanent part of the Mario zeitgeist through sheer willpower.

Twitter user Ayyk92 posted a comic after the announcement of New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe for the Switch and it inspired countless other creations of Bowsette and the hope that we would soon see her as canon in the Mario universe.

With the release of New Super Mario Bros. Essentially, Bowsette is an alternative version of Princess Peach who has been merged with Bowser, dreamt up thanks to the inclusion of the transforming Super Crown item in Mario's next adventure on Switch.

Revealed in "The Art of Super Mario Odyssey" is an image of Bowser slinging a hat onto Peach, morphing her into a Bowsette that's far less buxom than we're used to. The description inexplicably apologizes to Luigi, which is a whole new layer of trolling Bowsette fans. For example, if Nintendo can create a Super Crown that's exclusive to Toadette, why not add a Universal Crown later on that's compatible with other Super Mario characters? U Deluxe, a repackaging of the Wii U launch title with all bonus "Year of Luigi" content included, as well as some new a playable Toadette. Anyone who pre-purchase the game via the eShop will be able to pre-load the game right away. Well, Nintendo aren't about to be that company, as they have seemingly ruled out any kind of official introduction of the fan-created phenomenon Bowsette. Booette, we hardly knew you.
