Adam Gase could indeed be back on the market

Zac Taylor

Shortly after that announcement, former Dolphins wide receiver Jarvis Landry took to Twitter and laughed at the news of Gase being fired.

While Saban continues to sound like a guy who won't leave Tuscaloosa, Cleveland could be Saban's last, best chance to remove the biggest blemish from his coaching career, and it would be fitting to see a couple of former Dolphins coaches come together in an effort to make the Browns the kind of team that could eventually threaten Miami's 1972 flawless season.

The team also announced that executive vice president of football operations Mike Tannenbaum has been reassigned within the organization.

He also placed well-respected general manager Chris Grier in charge of football operations, tasking him. This is the move Miami needs to make in order to right this ship and put the Dolphins in a position of success for years to come.

Who knows? He wouldn't be the worst option out there. "We need to add to our core of young players and build something special over the long-term". This decision was not easy as he gave everything he had to the organisation.

"Even if Dolphins had made a decision to retain Gase, the relationship was going to require considerable reparation", he added.

Gase said prior to Sunday's 42-17 loss to the Buffalo Bills that he didn't "need to lobby for my job" and that if Ross "says there's an issue, I'll know".

The Miami Dolphins finished the 2018 season 7-9 and missed the playoffs for the second year in a row and the ninth time in 10 seasons.

Ultimately, Gase's biggest gripe with the 2018 season was with the health of his team, as he often said, "I wish everybody hadn't gotten hurt". Tannehill missed five games.

Taylor could certainly coach up the Dolphins' quarterback, whether it's Ryan Tannehill or a new face, and turn the offense into a powerhouse, something Gase was never able to do.
