FA Cup third round draw - News

Newcastle United have been drawn at home to Blackburn Rovers in the third round of the FA Cup.

We will have full details of the draw across our media channels from 7.30pm on Monday night.

Chelsea are the current holders after beating Manchester United in last seasons final and Maurizio Sarri's men will begin the defence of their trophy against Championship side Nottinghm Forest at Stamford Bridge.

There are two all-Premier League ties with promoted Wolves hosting high-flying Liverpool, while Bournemouth and Brighton will clash on the south coast.

The south coast side were promoted as League Two champions in 2017 and after finishing eighth in League One this season are now leading the way under the guidance of former Wolves boss Kenny Jackett.

Cardiff face a trip to Gillingham, Crystal Palace will welcome Grimsby to Selhurst Park while managerless Southampton travel to Sky Bet Championship Derby and Huddersfield head for Bristol City.

Shrewsbury, who have appointed Sam Ricketts as boss, have seen off Salford City and Scunthorpe United to reach the third round stage for the fifth time in 23 attempts.

All third-round matches are scheduled to take place over the weekend of Saturday January 5, 2019.

Meanwhile, Sunderland or Walsall will face Bolton Wanderers in the third round of the FA Cup.
