Burger King pranks McDonald's with 1¢ 'Whopper Detour' offer

Burger King sells Whoppers for a penny...at McDonald’s

Burger King is calling the campaign the Whopper Detour. Sort of. For a limited time, when you go within 600 feet of a McDonald's restaurant you can order a flame-grilled WHOPPER ® sandwich for only 1¢ on the newly revamped BK ® App.

You can get a Whopper sandwich for just 1 cent on the new Burger King app, but you have to be within 600 feet of a McDonald's restaurant when you order. Get more information here.

Burger King is coming for McDonald's. If they accept and place the order, the app will navigate them to the nearest BK location to pick up their Whoppers. A few weeks before that, the company used images of real auto crashes involving Burger King restaurants as a way to encourage customers to use delivery instead of driving as a means to get their food.

Recently, the fast food chain announced a new promotion to encourage people to use their mobile app.

If you want one, you better hurry; the deal only works once and ends December 12.

In a later tweet, the company joked: "morning everyone. if you happen to be going to McDonald's today, drive safe".

According to Thrillist.com, McDonald's has yet to weigh in on whether they think Burger King's Whopper Detour gimmick is a bunch of crap.
