Wide Receiver Dez Bryant Set To Workout For This Team

Dez Bryant and the New Orleans Saints are reportedly in negotiations after he worked out for the team on Tuesday. More

New Orleans coach Sean Payton acknowledged to reporters on Wednesday that the team had worked out some receivers on Tuesday, including Bryant, but said it wasn't an indictment on the team's other receivers. As for Bryant, he was cut by the Cowboys earlier in the year, and visited with the Browns, but nothing came of it. Aiken was cut by the Eagles three weeks ago.

Released by the Cowboys in April, Bryant signed with the Saints for the remainder of the 2018 season, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. There will be no blaming struggles on the quarterback with Drew Brees throwing the ball.

But as the Saints set their sites on a Super Bowl run, an upgrade at receiver is a glaring need.

The veteran wide receiver hasn't seen any National Football League action since being released by the Cowboys in April after spending eight seasons in Dallas. New Orleans is now 7-1 on the season and appear to be a serious threat in the NFC.

The former Dallas Cowboy will officially sign a one-year deal on Thursday. Tight end Benjamin Watson has 26 catches, speed receiver Ted Ginn has 12, as does rookie receiver Tre'Quan Smith (who also has a ton of potential). Also, Dez Bryant would be joining the team with a hunger to prove that he still has what it takes to be an elite receiver. Last season, the three-time Pro Bowler notched 69 catches for 838 yards and six touchdowns.
