What do Croatia need to win the UEFA Nations League?

Luis Enrique speaks during a press conference at the Maksimir stadium

The match at Wembley is a winner-takes-all clash to determine which team reaches next summer's Nations League finals.

However, if they lose at Wembley, Croatia would overtake both themselves and Spain, relegating England to League B for the next Nations League campaign starting in 2020.

As Wayne Rooney fixed his glare forwards and blanked the radio microphones and daily newspaper journalists in the Wembley mixed zone interview area hours after his global farewell, so walked out the ghost of England past and the attachment to history that Gareth Southgate insists will not be a factor when his team face Croatia in Sunday's all-or-nothing Nations League decider.

So the equation is fairly simple for Zlatko Dalić and the Croatian team, beat England and a semi-final spot is assured.

Rakitic, 30, has won 101 caps for Croatia, scoring 15 goals.

"We created a lot of chances, some of them where it looked impossible that the ball would not go in, we hit the crossbar, and football has been unfair to us", Luis Enrique told a news conference.

Croatia, the 2018 World Cup runner-up, has struggled since its success in Russian Federation and sits in last place with one point-though it could still top the group if it beats Spain and then England on Sunday.

If the match finishes goalless on Sunday, England would finish in second place due to their superior goal difference.

"We don't need to be motivated", Dalic added. "If we play our best like we did against Spain I think we can win the match".

"It is unprecedented that you come off the back of a major tournament and have so many strong tests in such a short period".

"We will see who will replace him. We are pleased with progress and we want to finish well".
