A couple who married Saturday were killed when the helicopter they left their wedding in crashed.

Family friend Eric Smith announced the news in a Facebook post Sunday, writing: 'I'm absolutely devastated!

The crash occurred near Uvalde, about 85 miles (135km) west of San Antonio.

The newspaper reported that the Bylers were both in their senior year at the university.

The couple were married in Uvalde, where the sprawling Byler family ranch is located, according to their wedding website, housed on the Knot, which early Monday showed details about where guests could stay and the couple's registries.

The Uvalde County Sheriff's Office said the department received the call at around midnight Saturday about the crash in the northwest part of the county.

The helicopter's pilot was also killed in the crash, according to the television report.

Ackerman's best friend Katie Ellis said the family-oriented couple were members of the school's rodeo team. "Will was so adventurous and lived life to the fulled every single day and Bailee always went with the flow".

"I love them both so dearly and they will always be so special to me", she said.

Authorities reportedly discovered the wreckage shortly after sunrise on Sunday, CBS News reported.

The DPS and the Federal Aviation Administration were investigating. "One day we will all see their smiles and dimples again".
