'Red Dead Redemption 2' has best opening weekend on record

Red Dead Redemption 2 Companion App Suggests PC Version Exists

It looks like Rockstar left a relatively hidden in-game reference to the studio's work conditions during the development of Red Dead Redemption 2. The original game sold an estimated 15 million copies in total.

Away from the glitz of its sales, last week I reported on the human cost of Red Dead Redemption 2, with stories from behind the scenes of its development.

One of the more trickier of the collectibles to find in the new Wild West adventure is the Red Dead Redemption 2 Chick's Treasure map.

Video games have an unfair advantage over other media, in that they're considerably more expensive than music or movies, but even so Red Dead Redemption II made $725 million in its first three days.

Released on Friday to critical acclaim, Red Dead Redemption 2's opening weekend eclipses the $640.5m of Avengers: Infinity War, which is the highest-grossing of any film in history. Red Dead Online is planned for launch in November 2018, initially as a public beta, with more news to come soon.

GTA V and GTA Online are major reasons for Take-Two's solid fiscal performance year-in and year-out.

The massive opening sales has officially put the game up on Grand Theft Auto V's level.

According to Eurogamer, the video output of all versions of the game is derived from a Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) image, and therefore is not rendered in high dynamic range. We do not have the exact date of the release, but all owners of the game will have a free access.

The best console to play RDR 2 on is the beefed up Xbox One X which runs the game at native 4K at a "near-locked" 30FPS.
