Matic: Mourinho knows how to stop Man City

Anthony Martial impressed against Juventus

Nemanja Matic has described Manchester City as "a very good side" but has warned that Jose Mourinho knows how to stop them.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola on United: "No doubt they've improved".

"If you want to put the match into the context of where we are and where we can be, it becomes even more hard". "If you want to speak about their football potential, we can speak and football potential starts with investment".

"After that, of course, there is a quality of the work, of the organisation". I think that is untouchable but what is behind [the scenes] I can not say.

The 25-year-old played the full 90 minutes against former club Juventus on Wednesday as Jose Mourinho's men came back to secure a stunning 2-1 win in the Champions League.

Mourinho's team are enjoying a fine week, having won at Bournemouth and Juventus, while last month they drew at Chelsea after leading until the closing moments.

United are nine points behind the Premier League leaders after 11 matches as they travel to the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho: "If we keep conceding [opening] goals the day will arrive where we can not come back". "I don't think it is the way to look at the match".

"They are a very good team with very good players, so you have to be on your toes all the time and can't relax for a second".

The striker has missed the last two games with a muscle problem but has returned to training and could be included in the squad for Sunday's derby.

The big question mark ahead of Sunday's match surrounds the fitness of Romelu Lukaku, who Mourinho says will be in contention to feature if he comes through training unscathed on Friday and Saturday.

"When Mario [Mandzukic] plays he's more of a reference point, and then there's also Douglas and [Federico] Bernardeschi, so we have a lot of options in attack".
