Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's Ribs

Ruth Bader Ginsburg Sundance

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was hospitalized early Thursday with three fractured ribs after a fall in her office. She has also reportedly hired law clerks through 2020, sending the message that she plans on sticking around.

Ginsburg, 85, initially went home after the accident, which occurred in her Supreme Court office.

Ginsburg has persevered on the bench despite several health issues, including scares from both colon and pancreatic cancer and a heart procedure in which she received a stent in her right coronary artery.

In her absence, the court went ahead Thursday with a courtroom ceremony welcoming new Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who joined the court last month. President Trump and new acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker were expected to attend. The hospital determined that "fractured three ribs on her left side".

Rib fractures are common among older adults, particularly after falls.

Ms Ginsburg has sat on the Supreme Court since 1993 after being appointed by President Bill Clinton and is seen as the most senior justice on the court's liberal wing.

Ginsburg has grit and determination, and I only wish she applied that to upholding the plain text and original meaning of the Constitution, rather than toward twisting it to fit liberal Progressive pipe dreams.
