Starbucks 2018 holiday cups

"We listened to our customers", Roz Brewer, Starbucks' chief operating officer, told CNN Business. They said they "loved the tradition of Christmas", she added.

The pièce de résistance is always the holiday cups themselves, and this year they don't disappoint. The coffee chain's rolling out its annual holiday cups. The campaign served as a lightning rod of controversy, with some praising and some criticizing the brand for apparently featuring a lesbian couple. The second cup's red-and-white flame pattern is meant to represent the intense flavor of espresso, according to a Starbucks press release. He exclaimed in the video, "Do you realize that Starbucks wanted to take Christ and Christmas off of their brand-new cups?"

In response, Starbucks said it works "to create a culture of belonging, inclusion and diversity".

'We learn from everything we do in our stores, ' Brewer said.

In 2017, Starbucks went a different route - crafting a white design with doodles that encouraged customers to decorate and color the cup to their liking.

To accompany the drinks, Starbucks is also bringing back some old favorite holiday treats, including Iced Snowman Cookies and Peppermint Brownie Cake Pops, and releasing some new ones: Penguin Cake Pops, Pistachio Honey Croissants, Sugar Plum Cheese Danishes, and Chocolate Swirl Brioches.

The coffee chain will be giving out these reusable red cups while supplies last, starting when the winter menu goes live on November 2. "I think some people are looking to be angry", Egan said.
