Flight attendant breastfeeds passenger's baby, photo goes viral

Patrisha Organo 24 breastfeeding a strangers child during a flight

A 24-year-old Filipino flight attendant of the Philippine Airlines, stepped in to help a passenger's crying baby after the mother ran out of the formula milk during a flight. She was working on a flight on November 6 when she heard a baby crying, "a cry that will make you want to do anything to help", she wrote on Facebook.

As a mother herself, she could relate.

According to her Facebook post, which has over 122K reactions, the mother started to tear up and told Organo that she had run out of formula and was unable to feed her child.

"I felt a pinch in my heart", she wrote. I thought to myself, there's only one thing I could offer and that's my own milk.

In her post, Organo said that the flight was a scheduled check flight for her to be qualified as a Cabin Crew Evaluator and that she knew it was going to be a special one. "I continued to feed the baby until she fell asleep".

"I breastfed a stranger's baby inflight", she said.

Some mothers choose to partake in informal milk sharing, which comes with risks like contamination or the spread of disease or drugs used by the milk donor to the baby. Organo made a decision to breastfed the passenger's baby herself.

From dealing with unruly passengers, to bringing food and drink, and sometimes even to landing the plane as the case in 2016 when a flight attendant on a Boeing 747 with 195 people on board helped land the plane when the co-pilot passed out somewhere over France. "There's no formula milk onboard", Organo wrote. With almost 34,000 shares, at the time of writing, Organo has been showered with lot of love.

"I breastfed a stranger's baby in flight, and I am just so thankful for the gift of a mother's milk at times of need", said Patrisha proudly.

"In my early days of breastfeeding, I would really like to give up, but because I have the strong support of my husband, I kept going", she said to Yahoo Lifestyle.

I knew the flight was going to be special to me, as I had just received a promotion in my role, but I didn't realise it would be this special.

After the baby was satisfied, Organo escorted the mother and child back to their seat.
