"Censors Cleared It": Rajinikanth Slams AIADMK Protests Against 'Sarkar'

Chennai: Superstar Rajinikanth on Friday tweeted in support of actor Vijay's latest Tamil film "Sarkar". It is known news that AIADMK party is demanding Sarkar team to remove scenes condemning government schemes and freebies and other scenes that are indirectly referring Jayalalitha.

Tamil Nadu Information and Broadcasting Minister Kadambur Raju was the first official from the state government to express his displeasure with a few scenes from Sarkar and sought their removal from the film.

Just how the Kollywood film fraternity had stood together in support of the makers of Mersal a year ago, high-profile stars from the Tamil film industry such as Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and Vishal also batted for Sarkar and strongly condemned the demands of the party supporters, some of whom even engaged in violence. Ever since the movie released, party cadres have been protesting outside various theatres in Tamil Nadu and indulged in damaging the banners of the film and cut-outs of Vijay. He took to Twitter and lashed out at the people involved in this unruly act. Rajinikanth condemned these acts. Produced under the Sun Pictures banner with music by A. R. Rahman, the film has now gotten embroiled in a political controversy post its release with the state's ruling government.

A while ago Murugadoss tweeted, 'Police had come to my house late tonight and banged the door several times.Since I was not there they left the premises.

While Sarkar has reportedly earned over Rs 70 crore worldwide on Day 1, some film trade analysts expect one of its kind film, the Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Thugs of Hindostan to earn Rs 50 crore in India only on opening day. A minister has not only demanded the removal of controversial scenes from the film but went on to say that Vijay is acting like a Maoist.
