Borussia Dortmund vs. Bayern Munich - Football Match Report

Champions League Play of the Day 11/7/18

That's a lead of seven points on third-placed Bayern Munich now, Bundesliga champions in the past six seasons. The score remained 0-1 till halftime.

Bayern manager Niko Kovac insisted pre-match he was not feeling the pressure, but questions may again be asked about his future at the club after their six-game unbeaten run in all competitions ended.

The dramatic match saw Dortmund snatch the victor through Paco Alcacer in the 73rd minute after Marco Reus' either side of Robert Lewandowski's double had brought Dortmund level.

"We didn't trust ourselves in the first half, but we played awesome football after the break and it was great fun", said Reus.

Marco Reus twice cancelled out Robert Lewandowski goals, but it was Alcacer who struck the decisive blow in the 73rd minute at Signal Iduna Park.

In the 26th minute of the match however, Robert Lewandowski scored a goal to provide the lead for Bayern Munich via a Serge Gnabry assist.

The hosts then laid siege to the Bayern box, with Reus and Alcacer wasting golden chances, before Reus making amends with his eighth goal of the season, an unstoppable one-touch missile that left keeper Neuer frozen to the spot.

Reus finally equalized shortly after Alcacer came on.

There was more misery to come for the visitors, who looked rattled by Dortmund's speed, as Spaniard Alcacer, beating the offside trap, raced clear to chip the ball over Neuer for the victor.

Lewandowski had the ball in the net for a fourth time, but again the flag went up for offside to the delight of the home fans in the sell-out 81,365 crowd.

Nelson, on loan from Arsenal, settled the matter with his sixth goal in seven league games just two minutes after coming on.
