More than 3 million items will eligible for same-day delivery during the holiday season, if you're a prime member. Target dropped its $35 minimum for free two-day shipping during the holidays.

'Tis the season for online shopping, especially if Amazon is your go-to destination.

Last year, Amazon shoppers without Prime memberships had to spend at least $25 to earn free shipping, but Amazon is waiving the purchase minimum starting Monday to give "customers even more convenient and faster delivery options", the company announced. Sales in November and December - excluding automobiles, gasoline and restaurants - are expected to increase between 4.3 and 4.8 percent over 2017 for a total of $717.45 billion to $720.89 billion, according to figures from the National Retail Federation.

Target last month raised the stakes for the all-important holiday shopping rush, offering USA customers free two-day shipping. Not to be beaten on its home turf, Amazon is already looking to counter Walmart and Target with its own bolstered free shipping. By comparison, Walmart, one of Amazon's fiercest competitors sells around 75 million products online. The offer applies to "hundreds of millions of items", Amazon said, which makes it "the largest free shipping selection in the country".

Typically, Amazon has a $25 minimum order amount for non-Prime members to get free shipping. Analysts estimated that Amazon took almost half of all online retail sales in 2017, and that it will account for even more this year.

Amazon says it has lined-up its "biggest ever " Black Friday sales event this year, with thousands of discounts earmarked for products in its toys, games, fashion, jewellery, beauty, and home departments. The company expects sales for the fourth quarter to be between $66.5 billion and $72.5 billion.
