5 mostly likely landing spots for Le'Veon Bell in 2019

Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner plays in an NFL football game against the Carolina Panthers Thursday Nov. 8 2018 in Pittsburgh

Ben Roethlisberger sent Le'Veon Bell a text message on Tuesday afternoon in an attempt to contact the Pittsburgh Steelers running back before his decision on whether to report to the team by the 4 p.m. deadline. On Wednesday, Ben Roethlisberger revealed that he texted Bell just before the deadline, but he never received a response back from him. He will enter free agency next summer with a clean bill of health, though he also missed out on $14.5 million by forfeiting the entire 2018 season.

Linebacker Bud Dupree thanked Bell for the two pairs of Jordan cleats he found in the pile.

"To each their own on what they want to walk away from", Roethlisberger said.

A day after Bell did not report to the Steelers, officially ending any chances of his playing this season amid his lengthy holdout, the rest of the Steelers pounced on the carcass that was his locker. Having dual-threat options at both quarterback and running back would be a tall task for opposing defenses, pending Bell returns to being the same player after missing a year of NFL football.

Bell recorded 5,336 yards and 35 touchdowns on 1,229 rushing attempts, as well as 312 receptions for 2,660 yards and seven touchdowns during his six seasons in Pittsburgh.

"It would be tough", Roethlisberger said.

Bell, one of the top running backs in the National Football League, will be healthy for his free agency and should be able to recoup his cleat losses.
