The Walking Dead: The Final Season Saved by Skybound Games

Fortunately, it seems that Skybound will be able to pick up where Telltale left off, since The Walking Dead: The Final Season was almost finished at the time of the studio's closure.

Per Variety's article, a Skybound spokesperson also claimed that the company was looking to work with Telltale developers to finish the game, but that no details have been finalised. And as of today, we are very pleased to announce that we are taking on the job of finishing The Walking Dead: "The Final Season and seeing an end to Clem's story line, while working with with members of the original Telltale team", reads a blog post.

Telltale announced their impending closure last month, and at that point it seemed as if only two of the four episodes in the current season of Walking Dead games would be released. "Skybound will continue to update fans on the status of the game on, Twitter, and Facebook".

There were hints that a deal could be made with another company though and now Robert Kirkman's Skybound Games has stepped in to finish the story.

In the wake of the layoffs, game workers rallied behind the hashtag #TelltaleJobs to try to help ex-employees land on their feet, so it's not clear how many will be available (or willing) to return to complete The Walking Dead.

"We've successfully negotiated with Telltale Games for our company Skybound to come in and see Season 4 of the Telltale game to completion", Kirkman told an audience at New York Comic-Con Saturday night.
