The West Indies' performance is not for me to speak upon. Spinners Ravichandran Ashwin, Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav also chipped in with a wicket each to cap off a ideal day for the Indians at the Saurashtra Cricket Stadium.

It was India's highest total in a test match against the West Indies, with Jadeja (100 not out) reaching his maiden hundred after Kohli departed for 139 - his 23rd test century.

Ambris, back in the squad for the first time in 10 months, lasted just 20 balls before edging an extravagant drive at left-arm spinner Jadeja to Ajinkya Rahane at slip.

With conditions for Wednesday's series opener in Dambulla expected to be hot, humid and draining, the elements leave England at risk of being underprepared.

Worth mention here Kuldeep has become the world's second youngest player to join the five-wicket club in Test format in India.

Roston Chase (53) and Keemo Paul (47) counter-attacked briefly but India took the final four wickets in the first session, with Ravichandran Ashwin claiming 4-37, as Kohli enforced the follow on.

Ashwin wrapped up the innings by having Shannon Gabriel stumped, and there was even time for the off-spinner to strike again before lunch as the Windies batted for a second time, captain Kraigg Brathwaite (10) offering a simple catch to short-leg. Opener Kieran Powell was the only West Indian batsmen to make a significant contribution in the second essay, an entertaining 83 off 93 balls with eight boundaries and four sixes. He added a further 23 runs for the unbeaten last wicket with Shami (2 not out).

India's "Hitman" Rohit Sharma, who had recently led Team India's ODI side to a successful campaign in the Asia Cup 2018, is set to play for Mumbai in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018.

Kuldeep ripped through the tourists' middle order, trapping Shai Hope lbw before dismissing Shimron Hetymer and Sunil Ambris in the same over.

"We wanted him to cross the three-figure mark because we believe in his batting ability", India captain Virat Kohli said after India's win over the Windies. The upcoming Test is scheduled to be played on October 12 at Rajiv Gandhi International cricket stadium, Hyderabad.
