Le'Veon Bell not expected to report to Pittsburgh Steelers this week

Le'Veon Bell #26 of the Pittsburgh Steelers looks on against the Jacksonville Jaguars during the first half of the AFC Divisional Playoff game at Heinz Field

However, with the Steelers observing their bye week, players will be off Thursday through Sunday, and Bell will not rejoin them prior to the break.

And for anyone who was banking on a Week 7 return to the Steelers for Le'Veon Bell, well, those plans aren't laid at all.

The next target date for Bell? Players are also required to have at least four consecutive days off during the bye week as written in the collective bargaining agreement, which would mean less practice time for Bell.

If and when Bell does return, he might not see too many snaps right away.

Conner has performed quite well in Bell's absence as he's now fifth with 403 rushing yards and second with seven rushing touchdowns along with 26 receptions for 257 receiving yards in the first six games played.

The biggest obstacle might be the success Pittsburgh's having in the run game.

You could even make an argument that, if Bell comes back, the Steelers might not consider just sitting him on the bench and paying him not to play. That would put him out for almost half the season.

So Bell could be in for a surprise if/when he shows up, and he may not like what he hears from the Steelers.

Bell has been holding out and has missed the first five games of the season after the Steelers placed the franchise tag on him for the second straight year.

The Steelers also could elect to trade Bell by the National Football League deadline, which is October 30.
