Jimmy Butler Returns To Practice, Verbally Challenges Coaches, Teammates

Associated Press

As the Miami Heat continue to push for a trade that would bring Jimmy Butler to Miami, Butler returned to Timberwolves practice on Wednesday.

Butler requested a trade three weeks ago, wanting out of coach Tom Thibodeau's system and out of the cloud of discord hanging above him, Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins. "You can't win without me, '" ESPN reported, citing sources. Well, if you ask Butler, he made it clear a few times that he doesn't see a long-term future with the team before his trade request, but as we know now, Butler wants out.

Minnesota was reportedly willing to trade Butler to the Houston Rockets on Tuesday, but the Rockets were unwilling to part with PJ Tucker.

Timberwolves star Jimmy Butler reportedly prefers the Heat over all other potential destinations.

Except for this trade, the Timberwolves responded with an amendment to the framework of the deal, according to Wojnarowski, which caused the trade talks to "fracture". The Heat reportedly pushed the Timberwoles to "accept a revised offer" for Butler with a deal potentially centered around center Bam Adebayo, guard Josh Richardson and a first-round pick.

The T-Wolves' first game of the season is on Wednesday when they visit the San Antonio Spurs. He can become a free agent at season's end.

In what may be a good sign for the Wolves, though, Wojnarowski reported via Twitter that Butler practiced with the team today. The two teams had shared Butler's medical information but a deal didn't come together even with the urging of Taylor.
