Cubs to host Brewers for NL Central tiebreaker game

The playoff-bound Colorado Rockies are headed to Los Angeles for a tiebreaking game to decide the NL West title after routing the Washington Nationals 12-0 on Sunday behind Charlie Blackmon's cycle.

The questions about the Colorado Rockies' postseason will be answered after a tiebreaker game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday afternoon.

The Cubs (95-67) will host the Brewers (95-67) at 1 p.m. ET, while the Dodgers (91-71) will host the Rockies (91-71) at 4 p.m. They are a relative rarity - there have only been four tiebreakers since 2000, and only one since 2013.

The Rockies scored two in the first and added a pair in the third and just kept on scoring in a 12-0 win over the Nationals. He scattered four hits over 7 2/3 innings for his first win since July 4.

The title-winning Red Sox, Indians, Astros and Braves will advance to the postseason along with the Brewers, Cubs, Rockies and Dodgers plus the Yankees and Athletics, the two American League wild-card teams.

Cubs fans will be sure to wear a split Chicago and Detroit jersey while they watch their game against the Cardinals Friday night and the Tigers' game against Milwaukee. Anthony Rizzo and Javier Baez scored six of the Cubs' runs. The victor will also receive home-field advantage against the NL East champion Atlanta Braves in the National League Division Series.

Walker Buehler was set to start for the Dodgers Monday, while German Marquez was slated to get the ball for the Rockies.
