Canelo Alvarez signs record-breaking $365 million deal with DAZN

Canelo Alvarez lands a left hand in his win over Gennady Golovkin in September. More

He will meet WBA "regular" world champ Rocky Fielding on December 15 at Madison Square Garden in NY.

Inside their first month the DAZN platform has signed the two biggest stars in world boxing in the form of Canelo Alvarez and Anthony Joshua.

Boxer Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is about to become very, very rich. De La Hoya told ESPN that in addition to Alvarez, Golden Boy signed an undisclosed deal to promote 10 cards annually on DAZN beginning in 2019.

HBO had the right of first negotiation and a last-look provision for the upcoming fight in NY, but after DAZN threw down its bid, the premium cable channel backed off. Álvarez is a part of Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions, and the organization has had a long relationship with HBO.

'I don't have much more to say other than his experience beat me and he is a great fighter.

Canelo was most recently aligned with United States broadcaster HBO but the network announced it would move away from live boxing coverage at the end of 2018.

Of course, Canelo and Floyd fought back in 2013 - but Alvarez has improved A LOT since then, and clearly believes he would smash Floyd if they met again.

The streaming service charges $9.99 (£7.60) a month rather than one-off, pay-per-view fees.

"If he wants to return, I ask him to look my way to give a great fight to the fans".

"I was never anxious because I'm very confident in myself", Canelo said. His earning will be nearly Rs 10,000 per minute for the next years. It cost $84.95 to be seen in high definition. "We are committed to making this sport as accessible as possible and at an affordable price for all the fans". We'll see how the weight affects me.

"We are thrilled to be exclusive partners with Golden Boy Promotions and Oscar De La Hoya", added John Skipper, executive chairman of DAZN Group.

This is an earth shattering deal when it comes to the business of sports and the landscape does appear to be changing with the old PPV model coming under threat from monthly services like DAZN, with the signing of Canelo a potential game changer.
