Ajayi done for season with reported torn ACL

Eagles’ Jay Ajayi out for season with torn left ACL

McCoy is off to a slow start with Buffalo this season, and he is scheduled to count roughly $9 million against the salary cap in 2019.

It's dot-connecting season in the NFL.

The Eagles now have just over $4.3 million in cap space.

In La Canfora's report, he indicated that Pittsburgh was "hopeful" of getting a draft pick higher than the third round in exchange for Bell and of being able to ship him to the NFC, if anywhere.

McCoy spent his first 6 seasons as a member of the Eagles and would possibly love to leave a rebuilding franchise in Buffalo for a team coming off a Super Bowl win. Ajayi criticized the Eagles' playcalling against Minnesota following Sunday's loss, upset over Philadelphia's 17 carries compared to 35 passing attempts.

Although the Eagles didn't specify the injury, Ajayi tore his ACL and will miss the rest of the season, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Speculation also has connected the Eagles to disgruntled Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell.

Thirty-five year old Darren Sproles figured prominently in the opener, but hasn't played since due to a hamstring injury.

Adding either Johnson or Bell would take a serious hit to the Eagles payroll this year and beyond. Or, of course, they could try to pursue trades for other, cheaper running backs or simply sign an existing free agent.
