The rise of Justin Rose to No

Tiger shoots 65 in Monday finish at BMW Championship

Bryson DeChambeau, who had won the first two legs of the FedEx Cup playoffs, finished tied for 19th at Aronimink and enters the Tour Championship with the overall FedExCup points lead. "The belly putter was a tougher transition than I thought, and I kind of fell off the radar there for a little while".

Englishman Justin Rose has become the World number one player in the latest Golf Rankings.

Woods, who is projected to rise to No. 21 in the world, would have needed a final-round 62 to be part of the playoff. To win and to put everything together when I didn't know if I was going to win again, to get to the Tour Championship, to have them here and have what's going on in my life is just so unbelievable.

Bradley trailed by three shots going into the final round and atoned for a disappointing Sunday in New Jersey, where he had a chance to win the Northern Trust two weeks ago before shooting 78 in Round 4.

He is on the brink of becoming world No 1 for the first time in his 20-year career after play was washed out at the BMW Championship in Pennsylvania. I'm very proud of it, it's been a good stretch of golf, I've really played solidly for over a year.

"That's an wonderful achievement, something I'm extraordinarily proud of", Rose told Rogar Maltbie of Golf Channel. "I don't normally", he said. "It's a boyhood dream".

The final round was pushed back from Sunday to Monday because of constant rain that led to poor course conditions.

As usual, it crowded around Tiger Woods.

But even if he doesn't, it should be remembered that Rose would assume pole position on the strength of a fabulous body of work over the last two years, not a weather delay. And this was the kind of day when more than one mistake was going to be costly.

Woods missed a 6-footer for birdie at the seventh hole but when he birdied the ninth, he turned in 31 and was just one stroke back of the leaders.

For the sixth time in his career, Woods shot 263 or better. His consistent excellence finally overcame the millennial invasion - Jordan Spieth, Jason Day, Brooks Koepka, Jon Rahm, Rickie Fowler - as well as the blossoming of his peers, Johnson and Bubba Watson.

"I've played a few tournaments where I was close at the end", Woods said, whose missed opportunities to win this year include The Open and US PGA Championship.

All this means the Tour Championship, featuring the top 30 points earners on tour this year, will have some unexpected faces - and will be missing some familiar faces.

The event is the third of four tournaments in the PGA Tour's end-of-year FedEx Cup Playoffs and featured a field of 69 players from the top of the playoff standings. He joins eight other players in the last 20 years to win a major and a World Golf Championship and reach No. 1 in the world.

"I was in control of my own destiny and didn't have it this week", Spieth said after a closing 73 left him tied 55th on three-under.
