Patriots Practice Report: Josh Gordon Present, Wearing No. 10

Watch Patriots show off Josh Gordon Tom Brady hype video

Although you could argue that Gordon is now the most talented member of the Patriots receiving group, Brady isn't ready to jump on the hype-train just yet. But Gordon, who was not available to the media on Wednesday, has played just 11 games over the last five seasons while he struggled with substance-abuse issues that landed him on an indefinite suspension for nearly three seasons.

The New England Patriots have acquired wide receiver Josh Gordon in a trade with the Cleveland Browns... or have they?

Despite those basic, undeniable realities, coach Bill Belichick took the position with reporters on Wednesday that he won't be discussing the player because the trade isn't done.

"Work hard", Gronkowski said Wednesday after Gordon's first practice with the team. The wide receiver corps has been an issue for them going back to all of the injuries suffered in training camp.

"I'm not a counselor or nothing", Hightower said of supporting Gordon. "If it's a flip of the coin and 50-50, sometimes it's right, sometimes it's wrong, I mean nobody can really depend on that. I think that it's all about him getting comfortable".

Gordon's appearance in practice ended a freakish morning where people were wondering why Belichick wouldn't comment on his newest receiver.

Belichick got irritated when multiple follow-up questions were asked and responded, "Any other questions?"

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network shed more light into the delay, saying that it is related to a "tweak" in the language of the deal.

"There are terms that have to be met before the trade is finalized", he said. Originally, the seventh rounder was said to be conditional and only headed to Foxboro in the event that Gordon didn't play in 10 days.

The Browns had had enough and dealt Gordon to New England for a fifth-round pick Monday.

Belichick's next news conference is set for Friday morning.

"I always think trust is whatever receiver is out there, you know, you tell them to run a certain route and they run it the way that you talked about it, the ball is thrown, it's caught, it's a positive play and then you do it again", Brady said.
