Mike Zimmer gives ruthless answer on Daniel Carlson cut

Minnesota Vikings kicker Daniel Carlson reacts after missing a field goal in the final seconds of overtime an NFL football game against the Green Bay Packers Sunday Sept. 16 2018 in Green Bay Wis. The game ended in a 29-29 tie

It was a move that many saw coming and after Sunday's results, it was a move the Minnesota Vikings had to make.

The team announced on Monday that they've made a decision to cut ties with Carlson in a move that comes less than 24 hours after the kicker's disastrous 0-for-3 performance in Green Bay on Sunday. During his postgame press conference, Vikings coach Mike Zimmer didn't exactly give Carlson a vote of confidence when asked if the rookie would stay on as kicker. Zimmer responded Monday, when asked about waiving the former Auburn kicker.

"It's disappointing when you've got an opportunity to win the football game there at the end and you come up with a tie".

The Minnesota Vikings are aggressively pursuing kicker Dan Bailey after a disastrous performance by rookie kicker Daniel Carlson, who missed key field goal attempts in Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers, according to sources.

The Vikings also announced the signing of wide receiver Aldrick Robinson, whom Minnesota brought in for a workout on September 7.

Is this a decision the Vikings wanted to be making just two weeks into the 2018 season?

Not only are the Vikings releasing Carlson, but they're adding the best kicker available on the market.
