Germany retirement can help Ozil – Emery

The former Germany worldwide missed Arsenal's 3-1 Premier League win over London rivals West Ham United last month but returned to the team for the 3-2 victory over Cardiff City.

The Gunners were able to put a hard start behind them as they clinched a 3-1 home win against West Ham United before making the trip to Cardiff City, where they came out on top with a 3-2 victory. Here for me it isn't for a lot of the time speaking about what people are telling us.

Arsenal head coach Unai Emery: "Firstly we need to win and I think it is very important that in the last match, we won".

Ozil's retirement from global football came after he made claims of racism from the German football association.

He said: "Today, the training in the afternoon is the last session". But Emery is hoping the extra rest and training sessions during the worldwide break - the first since Ozil announced his retirement from Germany - will help the star midfielder find his feet again.

"For me, it is a new moment", said Emery. "Mesut, I look at him with the focus totally here".

Arsenal's German midfielder Mesut Ozil (R) celebrates scoring his team's second goal during the UEFA Champions League football match between Arsenal and Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium in London, on October 20, 2015. We are going to work with four players.

Chief executive Ivan Gazidis' future looks less certain, though, with AC Milan having re-opened negotiations with him. He is very convinced about that in my conversations with him about it. "I don't know any other news from him".
