For $299.99 United States dollars, the bundle is quite an expensive one - but it's the same as buying a Switch with no games included, so you're not paying more.

The statement then reported that some titles wouldn't be subject to this ruling, specifically citing Fortnite as a game that could be played online without the service.

"Nintendo Switch Online will launch later this evening". Compared to competing services on Xbox Live ($40 / £40 per year) or Playstation Plus ($60 / £50) Nintendo Switch Online looks like a bargain. Making matters worse is that offline save data backups aren't now an option on the Switch.

You may also be able to partially cover your subscription using whatever points you have. Unfortunately, you won't earn points when you purchase a subscription normally. If you were to somehow misplace or destroy your Switch or even buy another one you'll be able to find all your save files stored safely online. In preparation, Nintendo Switch eShop is scheduled for maintenance starting at 5pm PT and will be unavailable for up to 3 hours.
