Antonio Brown Wasn't At The Steelers Facility For Monday Meetings

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin meets with reporters after an NFL football game against the Kansas City Chiefs in Pittsburgh Sunday Sept. 16 2018

Okay, okay. Brown's tweet yesterday had nothing to do with him wanting to be traded.

While there's no direct indication why Brown failed to report on Monday, it could be due to a general feeling of disrespect from Pittsburgh.

It is worth noting at this point that Brown was one of very few Steelers to publicly back Bell when he did not show up to the facility prior to the team's Week 1 game, while almost the entire offensive line and front office criticized Bell in the media.

When asked about Brown's tweet, the head coach declined to discuss his player's use of social media.

The Steelers are a mess, and to their troubles - which include a tie against the Browns, a loss to the Chiefs, and a holdout by All-Pro running back Le'Veon Bell - they can now add wide receiver Antonio Brown.

Brown got into a sideline confrontation with offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner during Sunday's 42-37 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and responded "Trade me let's find out" to a former Steelers staff member who tweeted Brown wouldn't be the same player without quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

In the heat of an National Football League game, sideline disagreements happen. There have been a couple of instances now where you've asked me about Antonio regarding some social media-like things.

"It's important that we understand our position, the light that shines on us and the responsibility that comes with it", Tomlin said. "But I'll leave that between he and I", Tomlin said. "I just assume leave those things in house". I just don't believe it's appropriate. "There were some negative exchanges on the sideline". I think this forum is a very professional one. I understand all that. That's frustrating associated with not playing well and not winning.

Things are getting very, very weird in Pittsburgh. "And non-football-related things, such as social media decorum and et cetera, so hopefully that'll be the last time I'll be discussing things such as that in this setting".

He has had a tough time as of late, as he also threatened to punch a journalist who wrote an unflattering story about him.But for now, Brown seems content in Pittsburgh. Cameras caught him venting in the second half against Kansas City, and when Roethlisberger dived into the end zone for a 3-yard score that drew the Steelers within five points on Sunday, Brown walked slowly off the field while his teammates celebrated.
