Transfer: Manchester United in talks to sign Chelsea defender

Kurt Zouma of Stoke City in action during the Premier League match between Everton and Stoke City at Goodison Park

Everton's long summer pursuit of Yerry Mina appears to be reaching a successful conclusion as he undergoes a medical in Barcelona.

The Everton manager also let Ashley Williams leave the side on loan to join Stoke City and Ramiro Funes Mori was allowed to join Villarreal.

The Toffees were thought to have turned their attentions to other targets such as Chelsea's Kurt Zouma and Manchester United's Marcos Rojo as a result. The French defender played 37 games for the Potters and him returning to the Premier League makes sense for both the club and the player.

Meanwhile, Gomes has been rendered surplus to requirements at Barcelona and has failed to become a regular in the Barca first team.

The relationship between Barcelona and Everton is believed to be strong, with left-back Lucas Digne already moving to Goodison Park from the Nou Camp in this window.

Everton "are expected" to sign Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes on loan for the 2018-19 season, according to The Daily Mail. There's been plenty of names, clubs who have been after him.

"It looks as if Everton have won the race to win the Colombian centre-half".

"But certainly it's going to be a very, very busy day here at Finch Farm."

Everton have been chasing the 23-year-old since his impressive World Cup exploits.

United would prefer a permanent deal, which Chelsea are less keen on.
