Sarri's Chelsea too good for Huddersfield

Chelsea team news Huddersfield

Town were flat on the restart and Pedro added a third ten minutes from time with a dinked finish over Ben Hamer.

Here are the winners and losers from the match.

And in the first game of the season it brought some reward with the French World Cup victor scoring the opener against Huddersfield.

Hazard sliced through Huddersfield's defence down the middle before setting up Pedro, who drove home a low angled shot into the bottom corner.

Another positive was the performance of Alvaro Morata, much maligned for his form in the second half of last season, and heavily linked with a move away from Chelsea this summer.

Kepa Arrizabalaga says he is looking forward to playing under Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea FC after having joined the Blues from Athletic Bilbao last week.

Chelsea took the lead through N'Golo Kante.

The 26-year-old was one of the best players at the World Cup in Russian Federation but he did not return for training at Chelsea according to the Metro.

Sarri has said it will take time to get his players playing his style; if this was anything to go by, the rest of the Premier League will be in trouble when Chelsea fully hit stride.

And that was when Chelsea grew into the game, with the Italian getting a feel of the opposition and exposing their weaknesses with the same quick short passes which he did so well at Napoli.

Eyes were obviously on debutants Jorginho and Arrizabalaga and the pair gave excellent accounts of themselves, with the former scoring a cheeky penalty in the first half. But I think we did have a lot of unlucky situations.

The 24-year-old signed from Everton in January and performed so well in pre-season as the attacking part of Sarri's midfield trio that he would have fancied himself as a regular starter this season. Jorginho stepped up and cooly found the back of the net. "I hope we will win many titles and I hope in seven years when I look back I will be very proud of what I have achieved".

As for Jorginho's spot-kick, he was made to look silly. You can't do that against Chelsea because they will hurt you, and that's exactly what they did.

Huddersfield fans will have felt the half-time score was harsh, but Chelsea set about extending their lead after the restart. But, the youngster is surprisingly, not even in the matchday squad.

"Great way to start the new season".
